Our Success.Naviga

Working in the most important subscription platform in the US.

The Naviga group handles the subscriptions of 60% of the multimedia market in the US, including the biggest newspapers in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Philadelphia and Denver, and some other papers of national circulation...and it keeps growing! Virtualmind® has been part of the project for 7 years now.

The platform provides a service to the users that goes from buying a subscription to managing it completely. Clients can sign up for automatic debit, perform payments, get benefits, and even request paybacks for holidays or products that were not delivered on time.

The technology being used was obsolete, and the architecture did not allow for the necessary escalation, which in turn meant a slow development process, prone to a lot of mistakes, little flexibility and a low performance. Our challenge? Renew it. We intended to improve the final client usability, the product performance and, at the same time, achieve agile implementations. And we made it!

But we didn’t stop there. Our next objective was to develop a product from scratch, that could be quick and easy to implement, so that clients could be incorporated easily, at the same time improving the performance, usability, technologies and architecture. We called it CEP and it is easy to use, intuitive and also helped lowering the client’s maintenance costs, and the time required for problem solving and the adding of functionalities.

What does the team look like? We are part of Development, a team that is complemented with the ones working in Management, Support and Marketing in the US, and other teams around the world.

Due to the great number of locations where Naviga is present, the Virtualmind® team suggested a change in the tool to simplify its implementation.

To do so, the product was migrated to ANGULAR and .Net Core. This change, together with some modifications in the architecture, resulted in a much more user friendly tool that could, at the same time, reduce the implementation times. And the results have been great! It is interesting to mention that part of the team had never worked in ANGULAR, which meant an interesting challenge and an opportunity to grow and learn.

“The project allowed me to grow a lot, both professionally and personally. In the technical aspect, apart from being able to work with different technologies, it allowed me to work with developers with different skills and experience. On a more soft side, the project enabled me to change roles: from developer to project leader. The cultural diversity that comes from working with people from different countries and languages allowed me to improve my oral skills. I could also explore my management and leadership abilities.”
